Brussels: 60 people evacuated after a fire in a reception center

UA fire broke out during the night from Monday to Tuesday in Brussels at Home Baudouin, a shelter for single men in difficulty. Around 60 people had to be evacuated and three of them were treated on site after inhaling smoke, Brussels firefighters said on Tuesday.

The fire broke out around 4 a.m. on the ground floor of this four-story building located on rue de la Violette. When the firefighters arrived on the scene, smoke had spread throughout the building, and the Brussels police had already started to evacuate the 60 people present.

“The fire was quickly extinguished,” explained fire brigade spokesperson Walter Derieuw. “Eleven people were examined at the scene and three of them were given oxygen because they had smoke inhalation. No one had to be hospitalized. »
