The Orléans judicial court considered that there was indeed a “cause and effect link” between the Taser shot and the death of Loïc Louise, on the evening of November 3, 2013, in La Ferté-Saint-Aubin.
The ex-gendarme tried for manslaughter, more than ten years after the death of Loïc Louise in La Ferté-Saint-Aubin, was found guilty by the Orléans judicial court on Tuesday November 26, 2024. He was sentenced to two years suspended prison sentence.
The judges considered that his behavior was “qualified misconduct” and that there was indeed “a cause and effect link” between the death of the 21-year-old young man and the use of the Taser. The 36-year-old former volunteer deputy constable will also be banned from possessing a weapon for five years.

A 17 second discharge
On the evening of November 3, 2013, Noham and two of his colleagues intervened in La Ferté-Saint-Aubin, where a fight had just broken out between eight young people, on the sidelines of a birthday party. Some of those involved were drunk and aggressive with the emergency services and the police, including the victim, the ex-soldier explained at the bar, while trying to retrace the events of that evening.
While he was shirtless, Loïc Louise received two Taser shocks, one of which, the first, lasted 17 seconds (the regulatory duration is 5 seconds).
One year suspended sentence required
The Reunion student died twenty minutes later, the autopsy concluding that he died of asphyxia after regurgitation of the gastric bolus, following cardiovascular discomfort.
The prosecution had requested a one-year suspended prison sentence, considering that the young gendarme had committed a fault by “excessive use of the Taser”.
