Despite a climate of optimism regarding a possible ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel, fighting between Hezbollah and the Jewish state continues with increasing violence.
During the night from Monday to Tuesday, several Israeli bombings caused numerous victims. The Jewish state army targeted several homes and shopping centers in various locations. In Jdeidet Marjeyoun and Deir el-Zahrani, two houses were destroyed, while in Yohmor el-Shaqif, two other residences and a shopping center suffered the same fate, causing the death of one person. In Abba, an airstrike was carried out on two houses in the Al-Baydar neighborhood, killing two civilians and injuring nine.
In the Jebchit region, a raid killed three members of the same family in their home. In Kherbet Selm (Bint Jbeil), Israeli airstrikes caused several casualties. Likewise, the Sayyar neighborhood in Kfar Remmane was attacked, leaving three people injured. Finally, in Nabatiyé, two people lost their lives following strikes on several homes.
Southern Lebanon, notably the village of Khiam, was particularly affected by Israeli artillery bombardments and air attacks. Raids took place early in the morning between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m., targeting areas such as Hanin (5 strikes), Bint Jbeil (2), Tiri (2), Aïnata (2), Kounine (1), as well as the sectors between Tiri and Rachaf.
On Tuesday, teams from Civil Defense, health ambulances and the Lebanese Red Cross resumed the search to find people missing in buildings destroyed during Israeli raids in Tyre.
In Israel, the threat of rockets and drones persists
Israeli Channel 13 reported that the army is preparing to deal with Hezbollah’s final missile salvos, ahead of the potential implementation of a ceasefire. The armed forces of the Jewish State are completing their repositioning operations in border towns. According to the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth“hardly any intact buildings would remain in these areas and most of the houses need to be restored or demolished.”
For their part, residents of northern Israel are preparing for a possible intensification of rocket and drone fire from Lebanon, as reports of an imminent ceasefire multiply. The Home Front Command has readjusted its scale of activity in the Golan and northern border communities, involving the closure of many schools and the cancellation of large-scale events. The authorities fear that Hezbollah, supported by Iran, will increase its attacks before the official announcement of a truce.
