“An unacceptable act”

As of Saturday, the mayor of Pont-Audemer wrote a letter to the Minister of the Interior to question him about “this unacceptable act. »

This letter emphasizes three main points: the need to strengthen the police force from the Pont-Audemer brigade; THE strengthening of the powers of the municipal police and the mayor in terms of security. “It is essential that the municipal police in France can finally carry out identity checks and searches, that they can have access to files, particularly those of criminal records, and that they have powers of fine for offenses linked to narcotics,” indicates the City of Pont-Audemer; Better financial support for cities who invest in security, a responsibility of the State.

In this press release, the city of Pont-Audemer recalls the efforts it has undertaken since the start of this mandate to improve the security of its residents:

• The installation of 60 video protection cameras in 2024 and 40 new ones at the start of 2025. “In two years, the city will have gone from 2 to 100 video protection cameras »underlines the City.

• The increase in numbers responsible for ensuring the safety of residents, increased from 6 to 12 people since the start of the mandate.

• The increase in visibility of the municipal police and the improvement of the station's equipment thanks to the creation of a new station on the ground floor of the Risle room in 2025.

The town of Pont-Audemer also transmitted, in the hours following the tragedy, numerous images from video surveillance to the police.
