At 63, Florent Pagny can boast of having a long career behind him. Loved by the French for many years, the singer has had the pleasure of stringing together hit songs and being rewarded, notably at the Victoires de la Musique in 1998. His artistic career has mainly been made up of encounters including the one with the immense and late Johnny Hallyday.
This quarrel between Florent Pagny and Johnny Hallyday
Together, the two men managed to build a beautiful relationship and remain accomplices. So that Johnny Hallyday invited Florent Pagny to perform with him on stage
from the Parc des Princes on June 14, 2003 to perform a duet song. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a wonderful moment quickly ended. turned into a nightmare
for the husband of Azucena Caamaño.
And for good reason, the assistant responsible for guiding Florent Pagny to the stage got lost in the corridors.
“But where is the staircase? You scare me a little because you don’t know the way.”then launched the singer. Johnny Hallyday simply didn’t have it not waiting to sing. “I hear the beginning of the title and then I say: ‘Attention, this is the song’. And in fact, when I arrive, he has already sung his verse.”remembered the interpreter of Know how to love in the documentary
Florent tells Pagny. And to continue: “He said to me: ‘You were late for your songyou were next to it'”. A misunderstanding which had at the time threw a chill between the two men. But not for long:
“The next day, we found ourselves on stage. There was the little smile and all the apologies that that implies. It was good! Reconciliation live”.
The singer has wonderful memories of his exchanges on stage with the boss
In reality, Florent Pagny has wonderful memories of his friendship with Johnny Hallyday as well as their exchanges in front of the public. Invited on the set of Quelle époque last year, the 63-year-old artist assured that “singing with Johnny was the ultimate test”.
“When you went into a duet with him, he was there to test you. He left a lot on the way”he revealed to Léa Salamé. And to assure in passing that Johnny, who also suffered from an alcohol addiction, was delighted to share the stage with him “because finally, there was one who had a bit of a response. And every time he needed, he called me”.
Florent Pagny: “There was always enormous mutual respect”
The one who confided in Jenifer is particularly grateful to Johnny Hallyday who gave him incredible moments. “There was always enormous mutual respect. I did the most beautiful events on stage with him. (…) We had the same ranges and we could sing the same songs without problem”he also confided in the documentary Florent tells Pagny.
Obviously, the disappearance of Johnny Hallyday on December 5, 2017 left a big void in the singer’s life: “The fact that he is no longer here, there really is an empty place. And it’s not going to fill up like that.”. An absence that is particularly difficult to accept, even 7 years after the death of the captain.
