A small tourist plane crashed on the A4 motorway in Seine-et-Marne on Sunday, June 30. The three occupants of the plane died in the crash.

A terrible and spectacular accident occurred this Sunday, June 30 in Seine-et-Marne. On the A4 motorway, near the Bay 2 shopping center, in Collégien, a small tourist plane crashed around 4 p.m., as reported by our colleagues from Parisian.

The plane crashed, ending up on the central reservation of the highway, as evidenced by the many photos and videos circulating on social networks since the terrible accident. They show the plane in flames, and traffic cut off in both directions on this busy highway in the Paris region.

According to the public prosecutor of Meaux, quoted by the local daily, the accident caused three deaths, the three occupants of the plane that crashed. Miraculously, the impact did not involve any vehicle traveling on the highway at the time. The victims were “two men and a woman,” added the prosecutor, specifying that “the pilot was born in 1989.”

The accident is believed to have occurred after the aircraft, manufactured by Cessna, came into contact with a high-voltage line, the gendarmerie said, quoted by AFP.

The A4 was closed to traffic in both directions following the accident. An investigation has been entrusted to the air transport gendarmerie, according to Le Parisien. The Bureau of Investigation and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety (BEA) has also opened an administrative investigation, the Meaux prosecutor’s office said.
