34 people were evacuated by Nancy firefighters from a building on rue du Rector Senn, this Sunday, November 24. Smoke coming from the basement had spread upstairs. No one is hurt.

It was an unpleasant surprise that woke up the residents of this building on rue du rector Senn in the city center of Nancy this Sunday, November 24 in the morning. This was the case for this elderly woman who heard a knock on the door at 7 a.m.: “I was all alone at home and I slept peacefully. I opened the door, there was a firefighter, I was shocked! He told me I have to get out quickly, so I took my coat and my shoes and I went out.” The lady had not smelled the smoke spreading from the basement.
For this young woman who had gotten up to go to work, there was something unusual, a strange smell, until her parents went to the terrace and saw the fumes emanating. “I wanted to stay at home to prepare for work, but the firefighters made me go out with an oxygen mask, I was a little scared“. 34 people were evacuated from the building.
A major emergency response system was deployed. We had to clear out the burned things in the garages. “The fumes rose into the stairwells and especially to the apartments on the ground floor, that is to say above the underground car park. There were significant CO2 levels” explains Guillaume Blaise, commander of SDIS 54
The residents took refuge in a municipal hall a few streets from their building but they will be able to return home during the day.
For the moment, the origin of the fire has not yet been established.
