A boat, a barn, the dog Piccolina… All the ingredients were there for a successful episode ofA Sunday in the countryside broadcast this November 24 on France 2. A special issue since it was the 50th! For the occasion, Frédéric Lopez invited three of the most popular personalities with the French: the novelist Virginie Grimaldi, the singer Kendji Girac and the actor and director Dany Boon. At the start of the show, the companion of Laurence Arné recounted his childhood in the Nord. His father was first a professional light heavyweight boxer and then became a truck driver. Her mother works in her parents' gas station where she meets Dany's father. She became pregnant at the age of 18.

At the age of 10, Dany Boon passed through an Italian theater during a school trip. It’s a revelation: its future must be played out within this framework. A place far removed from his well-defined career in the PTT as a civil servant. He then left home at the age of 15. “My father is very strict, very hard on me. Stricter with me than with the others because I am the eldest, I must set an example. When I tell him I want to be an artist, he looks at me and says : 'Never. You're going to be a tramp, is that what you want?'“, he testifies. With hindsight, the actor tries to justify his father's position. “He had it tough, he worked very young too. But that's normal. The only link we had with the artistic world was television. Michel Drucker, the films, the film club. The television was the cultural source of the house, it was on all the time because it is a social asset so it had to remain on, even during meals.“, he remembers.

Despite his parents' reluctance and fears, Dany Boon stands up to his father and enrolls in an art school. “It reassures them. As I am good at drawing, I go to drawing school and for the first time, teachers ask me what I want to do, what my dream is. They taught me the art of drawing and illustration for four years. When I graduated, they told me to be an actor, an artist, an author“, he says. He starts doing automaton mime with a friend in the street, in a nightclub or even in a shopping center. “I have a salary of 400 francs and it's extraordinary, it's half of my mother's salary. It's crazy stuff, really. You can earn a living doing what you love while I saw my parents or the neighbors struggling“, smiles the one who did well to listen to himself: today, his films have accumulated more than 46 million admissions at the box office.
