The bomb's priming system was destroyed shortly before 3 p.m. The weak detonation, generating as expected a small cloud of smoke, was barely perceptible from the edges of the security perimeter.
“Everything went well as everyone wanted. We did have a few people who tried to enter the perimeter but they were intercepted and escorted back to the surrounding area. The operation is successful. We have started setting up return shuttles for residents taken care of in our reception centers since this morning,” commented the mayor of Annecy, François Astorg.
In total, 211 residents were welcomed by City services at the Rencontres des Glaisins space and at the Plaine gymnasium.
City services had planned 1,500 meals to restore the residents welcomed for lunch, based on the protocols put in place for similar events (a third of the residents of an evacuated area are generally taken care of). The large surplus of meals will be donated to Secours populaire.
