A 13-year-old schoolboy was seriously injured after being hit by a scooter on Friday, November 22, in Maisons-Alfort (Val-de-Marne). His vital prognosis is in jeopardy. The 36-year-old suspected driver was arrested shortly after the tragedy, said a source close to the case, confirming information from the Parisian.
The events occurred at 6 p.m., at the corner of rue Paul-Vaillant-Couturier and avenue Professor-Cadiot. The teenager was crossing the road on a pedestrian crossing, while the pedestrian light was green. The scooter driver ran a red light before hitting the minor. According to the Créteil public prosecutor's office,
“the child would have fallen five to six meters”. The victim was also dragged about fifteen meters. Seriously injured, the schoolboy was transported to Necker hospital in Paris (15th arrondissement) in a state of absolute emergency. He suffered a head injury and multiple leg fractures.
Driver arrested at home
Witnesses noted the scooter's license plate and passed it on to law enforcement. Less than an hour after the incident, the police went to the home of the owner of the two-wheeler, rue Micolon in Alfortville (Val-de-Marne). The man, born in 1988, admitted the facts. Placed in police custody, he had a level of 0.58 mg of alcohol per liter of exhaled air, and was under the influence of narcotics.
The prosecution specified that the investigation, entrusted to the Maisons-Alfort police station, was opened on the counts of “unintentional injuries with aggravating circumstances”, “clear violation of an obligation of safety or prudence” and “hit and run” .
