Hervé Bride, on Europe 1, has long been one of the voices of sports commentary from the golden age of radio. He was also known as a music lover, a cultured man and a traveling companion of the Télégramme, for which he was correspondent for the sports department and for the sector of Vieux-Marché, Plouaret, Plounérin and Plounévez-Moëdec for years . He died on Friday November 22 at Brest hospital, where he was undergoing surgery after a fall on November 17, in which he fractured his shoulder.
Arriving in Pluzunet in 2011, Hervé Bride, a native of Grenoble, had previously spent a long time in Alsace and Paris where he worked for sports newspapers and especially Europe 1, as a commentator on duplexes followed by many amateurs. He had found the time to create links with Trégor. His pseudonym, on his press card, was Yann Tresmeur, named after his favorite beach in Trébeurden.
For nearly twelve years, he traveled the territory, reporting local life in all its aspects, with passion and relevance, to the readers of the Télégramme.
“A model, he was someone”
Upon his arrival in Brittany, Hervé Bride began a love affair with En Avant Guingamp, whose matches he commented on until 2018 and where he trained one of the current commentators, Gaëtan Pinel. The latter, also correspondent for Télégramme in Guingamp, says: “I did an internship with him in an info-com degree ten years ago. I knew him from the radio, I listened to the matches he commented on Europe 1. He was a model, one of the voices that rocked my football evenings. When I met him I knew he was someone. I learned a little from him about the commentary part, and he gave lots of advice on how to operate around matches. He also commented on matches at Stade Brestois. »
Laurent Rivier, sports journalist at Télégramme, worked a lot with Hervé Bride: “He was a voice from Europe 1, which saw the end of this radio's sports service. When he came to Brittany, he worked less for Europe 1, even though he commented on more than 1,000 matches on air, and he worked as a correspondent for the sports department. He had a great sporting culture, he was also passionate about rugby, which he had played. Someone with a strong character, we wouldn't change a comma like that! »
A man of culture and character
The sports journalist also left his mark on the Voce Humana festival, which he chaired for a few years. The current president, Alain Le Bourdonnec, entered the festival thanks to him: “I met him at Vieux-Marché and it was he who brought me in as a volunteer photographer, then involved me in the editing scenes and lighting. He relaunched and gave another dimension to the festival, which he brought out of Lannion, by organizing concerts in Plouaret and all around. »
The mayor of Plouaret, Annie Bras-Denis, also has good memories of Hervé Bride, Télégramme correspondent in her town: “I got along well with him. He was a former radio journalist, he was cultured and interested in sport. In the sector, he supported Céline Roussel, the youngest professional cyclist. He was teeming with ideas and involved himself in local life, to the point of putting together a list in Pluzunet.”
The Télégramme editorial staff has lost a friend. She shares her family's pain.
