The rumor said 2027 but “Dune 3” could well arrive on our screens earlier than expected: here is an approximate date, if it really concerns the third part of the successful saga!
Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya could be back as Paul and Chani sooner than expected: let the speculation begin! As Deadline reports, an “untitled event film” that Warner Bros. had planned for December 2026 is now being touted as a “Denis Villeneuve event film”… Rumor has it, it’s the highly anticipated Dune 3.
Sources also said that Warner and Legendary have blocked this date in the hope that the Canadian filmmaker will complete his trilogy on time.
Screenplay and music
In December 2023, Denis Villeneuve explained during a South Korean press conference for Dune: Part II that the script for the third film was almost finished:
“It is being written at the moment. The script is almost finished but it’s not quite finished. It will take a little time… We dream of making a third film… That would make sense to me.”
For his part, Hans Zimmer, the composer of the first two films, had told Variety that he was already working on the music for the third part, including Denis Villeneuve spoke to him on the second day of filming Dune 2.
Any other projects in the meantime?
Yet, Denis Villeneuve had also confirmed to the Hollywood Reporter that Dune 3 was not his next project. However, the feature film “should be the last Dune film” concerning him.
“I have four projects on the table right now. One of them is a secret project that I can’t talk about right now, but it should see the light of day fairly soon. So it would be a good idea to do something in between projects, before tackling Dune Messiah. [Dune 3, NDLR] and Cleopatra. All of these projects are still being written, so we’ll see where they go, but I have no control over that.”
It was after this information that Internet users began to speculate, predicting a cinema release in 2027. Dune 3 Will it finally be released in December 2026? We will have to wait a little longer before having confirmation.
