The Tour de France begins

The Tour de France set off this Saturday at 12:40 p.m. For the first time in its history, the Grande Boucle started in Italy. It was in Florence, and in 35°C, that the 176 riders, including six Bretons, representing 22 teams took their first pedal strokes. Tadej Pogacar is the big favorite for this 111th edition. The Slovenian is aiming for the Giro d’Italia-Tour de France double, something no rider has managed to achieve since the Italian Marco Pantani, 26 years ago.

This Saturday, voters in some territories are already heading to the polling stations for the legislative elections. This concerns residents of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, the Antilles, Guyana, French Polynesia and even French people living on the American continent.

Pollsters and politicians expect a sharp increase in turnout compared to the 2022 legislative elections, for which 47.51% of voters turned out. This time, turnout could reach or even exceed two-thirds of registered voters.

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is summoned for possible indictment in the investigation into the 2020 retraction of intermediary Ziad Takieddine, who accused her husband, Nicolas Sarkozy, of having financed his 2007 presidential campaign with Libyan funds.

The model and singer faces prosecution for receiving stolen goods, conspiracy to commit fraud in court as part of an organized gang and corruption of Lebanese judicial officials.

A Ukrainian drone attack has killed five people, including two children, in a Russian village on the border between the two countries, the governor of Russia’s Kursk region has announced.

“Five people were killed (…) including two children. Two other members of the family are in serious condition,” the governor, Alexei Smirnov, said on Telegram.

The drone hit a house in the village of Gorodishche, a small village in Russia’s Kursk region, just a few meters from the border with Ukraine.

At the Bobital Festival, part of the stage collapses

Friday, the Bobital L’Armor Festival in Sons, in Trélivan (22), was disrupted by an incident: around 11:50 p.m., when organizers had joined singer Bernard Minet on the main stage to sing and dance together on ” The village party”, a minor part (the floor to the ground) of it gave way suddenly. Five to six people fell approximately 1.75 m and one of them was slightly injured.
