Four young people in hospital after an accident in Plouénan

An accident involving a vehicle with four people took place on Saturday June 29, 2024, around 2 a.m., in Plouénan (Finistère).

Near the Kermaria estate, on a road with a major bend, the driver lost control of his vehicle. He reportedly hit a low wall bordering a communal property, even went over it, before colliding with two vehicles parked nearby. The vehicle ended up very close to a house, without damaging it.

A drunk driver

Awakened in the night, local residents came to help the occupants of the car, aged 22 for two of them, including the driver, and 19 for the other two.

The driver was driving with more than 0.5 grams of alcohol per liter of blood, above the authorized limit. A procedure was therefore opened by the Saint-Pol-de-Léon gendarmes.

Taken into care by emergency services, the young people were transported to the Morlaix region hospital, in particular for checks.

The mayor present on site

Saturday, late in the morning, the mayor of Plouénan, Aline Chevaucher, present on site during the night, indicated: “What a fright! At night with the firefighters’ flashing lights, we couldn’t see everything, but there was a lot of damage to the cars.” She points out: “The young people were really lucky!”
