Next Friday, November 29, the Harlem Gospel Choir will perform at the Astrada Marciac, in the eponymous Gers commune. The choir will pay tribute to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin.
Gospel will soon win the Astrada. On Friday, November 29, at 8:30 p.m., the Astrada Marciac welcomes the Harlem Gospel Choir for a unique concert. “For nearly forty years, they have been America’s premier gospel choir, traveling the world to thrill audiences with the inspiring power of black gospel music,” the organization said.

During this evening, the Harlem Gospel Choir will pay tribute to Aretha Franklin. American singer, pianist and songwriter of soul, jazz, gospel and rhythm and blues, she was nicknamed “The Queen of Soul”. Thus the choir will guide Marciac's spectators “in the free, powerful and emblematic music of Aretha Franklin”.

The Harlem Gospel Choir has performed alongside “superstars such as U2's Bono, Diana Ross, The Gorillaz and more recently Sam Smith, Damon Albarn and Pharrell Williams.” On its website, Marciac's Astrada claims that the choir has performed for three presidents (Presidents Obama, Carter and Nelson Mandela) and recorded with artists such as Keith Richards, The Chieftains and Trace Adkins.
