Be careful this morning on the roads of the department is still on orange snow-ice alert this Friday morning because of the Caetano storm. Several accidents took place this Friday morning, traffic is strongly discouraged in the Orléans sector, indicates VINCI Autoroutes.

VINCI Autoroutes explains this morning that traffic is impossible between Meung-sur- and Orléans, heading north. Around 12:30 a.m., during the night from Thursday to Friday, a road accident took place near Gidy between four vehicles, three heavy goods vehicles and a van. Traffic is completely interrupted between the Artenay (n°13) and Gidy (n°13.1) interchanges in the direction of Orléans. More than ten firefighters were mobilized, it is not yet known whether the accident caused any casualties, nor whether it was caused by snowfall.

On the A10 motorway, traffic is moving southwards at this time in conditions “very delicate” indicates VINCI Autoroute. In order to avoid the Orléans area, workaround measures are advised :

  • from to : follow A11 towards then A28 towards Tours,
  • from Tours to Paris: follow A28 towards Le Mans then A11 towards Paris,
  • from A19 towards Tours: follow A77, then take towards A85 towards Tours,
  • from A71 towards Paris: follow A85 towards Tours, then A28 towards Le Mans, then A11 towards Paris,
  • from A71 towards A19: follow direction towards A77.

Another accident took place, this time on the A71 motorway, in the Province-Paris direction, near Ingré. A lone heavy goods vehicle found itself immobilized on a bridge; the 70-year-old driver was taken into care and transported to the university hospital. The highway is cut near Ingré.

Interventions still in progress on the roads of the department

On the departmental roads, the agents have been very active since this Thursday and remained mobilized all night. “There is a refreezing of wet or snowy roads, there has been treatment, scraping and salting all night on the main road network” explains Nicolas Jobert, executive of the Loiret department this Friday morning on Bleu Orléans. Traffic conditions are generally good except locally in the north of Pithiverais or in a few specific points in Montargois. Traffic conditions remain delicate or even very delicate on the secondary network. Officers are currently working on these roads.

In the Orléans Metropolis, agents started salting operations on the roads around 1 a.m. this Friday. Since 5 a.m., salting operations are underway in front of schools, bus platforms and administrative buildings.
