In a text published Thursday, November 21 on the website of the Figaro, the heads of French and British diplomacy say they will not let Russian President Vladimir Putin “rewrite the principles of international relations” and will prevent him from “achieve one’s ends” a Ukraine.

“With our allies, we will deploy all necessary efforts to put Ukraine in the best possible position to obtain a just and lasting peace,” reaffirm Jean-Noël Barrot and David Lammy, criticizing “the return to the law of the strongest and the annihilation of the security architecture which has ensured peace for generations”.

Or, “the war in Ukraine goes beyond the borders of Europe, the whole world is struck by this attempt at 'Putinization'”observe the two ministers, who promise to fight “relentlessly against this campaign”. “No just and lasting peace can be achieved through violence or force”they recall, evoking in particular the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Israeli military operations in Lebanon. Faced with this “fragmentation of the world”the two allies say they are proposing a “coherent alternative”, “based on technological progress, international law and multilateral action”.
