The City of Sept-Îles considers that the situation is stable enough to lift the pre-evacuation alert that concerned the Gallix and Lac Labrie sectors. The City of Port-Cartier maintains the state of emergency.
Since June 20, residents in these areas had to be ready to evacuate due to forest fires threatening Port-Cartier and Sept-Îles. The fires are now contained by the SOPFEU : Friday morning, the City therefore issued a press release to advise that the weather forecasts for the coming days and the work of SOPFEU made it possible to lift the alert.
For its part, the City of Port-Cartier is maintaining the state of emergency as forest firefighters continue to work to bring the fires under control. SOPFEU’s interventions are focused on limiting the spread of the fires towards the south-east given that the winds are coming from the north-west today.
we can read on the Facebook page of the City of Port-Cartier.
The situation could deteriorate quickly depending on weather conditions.
Citizens from all sectors must therefore remain vigilant and continue to inform themselves about the state of the situation.
adds the City of Sept-Îles.
A fire is said content
when its progress is temporarily stopped, according to SOPFEU. It is qualified as mastered
when its progress has stopped for good and all the work has been done so that it does not start again.
