Despite a difficult launch marked by bugs and criticism, Ubisoft is doubling its efforts to improve Star Wars Outlaws. Update 1.4, scheduled for November 21, promises major changes to satisfy players.
Updates to redress the situation
When it was released, Star Wars Outlaws didn't get very good press. If the adventures of Kay Vess still managed to win over certain players, the numerous bugs quickly became very bad publicity for the software. Fortunately, Ubisoft quickly bounced back, promising many improvements in the future. Already during the month of October, several updates had been put in place to correct the main problems and especially improve the infiltration phases which had been described as too painful by the community. However, this was not enough, and the developers are still correcting the situation.
A huge update
As previously explained, Star Wars Outlaws still has many bugs to fix and many improvements to make. It is now update 1.4 that players are looking forward to, because it will be massive. First, the infiltration phases will be further revised: “we will make major updates to the enemy AI and your freedom of approach, allowing you to remain silent or noisy in all scenarios”, we learn on the official Star Wars Outlaws website.
This update will bring major improvements to the combat system, with an emphasis on enemy and weapon distinction. Enemy statistics will be revised to differentiate their archetypes, with adjustments to armor, health, and introduction weak points '''allowing strategic eliminations. New animations and hit reactions will enhance the impact of combat, making clashes more immersive and rewarding. At the same time, weapons will benefit from extensive work on their “feel”, with adjustments to recoil, accuracy, visual and sound effects, as well as a revision of modules for better utility in combat.
Finally, in addition to a more stable and customizable camera and cover system, weapons found in the field can be kept for longer, encouraging long-term strategic choices. “Overall, we believe and hope that this update to weapons, cover and damage stats will create a deeper and more engaging combat loop, with more variety, choice and satisfaction,” explains the Massive Entertainment studio. And as the group reminds us, this update should be the most important to date for Outlaws and will be deployede November 21 on Steam and consoles. If all goes well, players will also be able to discover a first story pack very soon, which will contain new quests, notably with the famous smuggler Lando Calrissian.
