Since 2022, the Ariège valleys hospital center (CHIVA) has been working to match the healthcare offering and the needs of the region. If in September 2022, an adjustment in the bed capacity of the orthopedic surgery and internal medicine units was made, since January 2023, a project to reorganize the day hospitals of the medical specialties center has seen the light of day, the latter should allow to welcome the patient in the right place and at the right time.

The oncology day hospital at the Ariège valleys hospital center welcomes patients who need to receive their treatments. Patients return home at the end of their session. “The sessions can last from 30 minutes with a single injection, up to nine hours,” explains Nicole ROUSSELOT, manager of the unit, hence the importance of patient care “ We have redesigned the service to make it more welcoming and so that professionals work in better conditions “, she continues.

For several years, the hospital center has built an essential partnership with the oncopôle and the University Hospital. “We want to reduce the inequalities in the oncology offer and enable a complete offer in the care. » adds Dr. Louisiana LEBAS, medical manager of the unit.

Dr Jean-Christophe CHARET, president of the establishment medical commission, notes that “The CHIVA chemotherapy day hospital has been redesigned and modernized for warmer patient care, but also to cope with the increase in activity in the department. »
