New price increase for subscribers and users of the TCL network in the Lyon metropolitan area from January 1, 2025, and more generally for the entire Rhône from September 1 after the merger of all the networks (TCL, Cars du Rhône and Dragonfly). Sytral voted for the price increase this Thursday, November 21, 2024, during its board of directors meeting.
The president of Sytral Mobilités and the Métropole de Lyon Bruno Bernard had already confirmed this price increase last October.
“Slightly below inflation”
“Every year, for 20 years, we have increased prices in the Lyon Metropolis. This is what makes our network strong. Every time we make a strong line, we gain purchasing power for residents because when we can move from the car to public transport, it’s a real increase in purchasing power,” said he in front of the journalists.
This is an “annual change in prices slightly below inflation”, defends Jean-Charles Kohlhaas, vice-president in charge of travel, intermodality and urban logistics for the Lyon Metropolis.
Increase in prices for certain TCL subscriptions
The main subscription for 26-64 year olds which currently costs 72.60 euros will increase to 74.10 eurosan increase of €1.50. In 2023, it was €69.40.
As for subscriptions for young people aged 18-25 and students aged 26-27, there is no increase.
For children aged 11 to 17, no increase either.
Note that free admission for children under 10 was also voted on this Thursday. From September 1, 2025, the TCL, Cars du Rhône and Libellule public transport networks will be free for children under 10 years old.
As for seniors, the subscription for retirees aged 60-64 offered at 36.30 euros per month will be the same in 2025, the same for those aged 65 and over at 36.30 euros.
As for the free subscription, this does not change for the inhabitants of the Rhône under conditions of resources (RSA beneficiaries, youth solidarity income, etc.). The solidarity subscription reduced by only 10.50 euros per month, no change. It is still at this rate for non-taxable users and recipients of unemployment benefit or on numerous social criteria listed on the TCL website.
The single 2 euro note increases
The “single” ticket valid for one hour on the network will go above 2 euros. He will be sold for 2.10 euros in 2025. During the previous increase in 2023, it had already crossed the 2 euro mark, going from 1.90 to 2 euros.
The ticket to take the new TCL river shuttles on the Saône will cost 3 euros one way, 5 euros for a return trip. The trip is free for subscribers.
The ticket purchased on board the bus will increase from €2.30 to €2.40.
The book of 10 tickets goes from 19.50 euros to 20 euros.
The Tick'Air (during peak pollution days) increases from 3 to 3.50 euros.
When the TCL network merges on September 1, 2025, unified zonal pricing will come into force with an increase in Cars du Rhône and Libellule fares “to keep up with inflation”.
