Unbridled capitalism, libertarian and in the terminal phase of fascistization, is entering through the front door. Billionaire Elon Musk, newly appointed special advisor to newly re-elected President Donald Trump, revealed, for the first time in detail, his “radical” plan to reform the federal state. He summarized the main points on Wednesday, November 20, in the columns of Wall Street Journalthe preferred platform in the world of American finance.
The ex-businessman and his spiritual descendant had already given several clues about their vision of the State, when the first openly believed that elected Democratic officials are “more dangerous” as Russian or Chinese interference, facing a all-smiling Elon Musk, during their “interview” broadcast live on X, on August 12. Through this attack, it is indeed a system as a whole, riddled with “enemies from within”which is targeted.
A “transition to the private sector”
Massive dismissals of civil servants, elimination of subsidies and deregulation: supported by the future president of the United States, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX intends to regain control of a system that he considers sclerotic. “Most law enforcement decisions and discretionary government spending are not made by the democratically elected president, or even his political representatives, he says, in his column co-signed with Vivek Ramaswamy, second member of the pair responsible for cutting public spending. But by millions of unelected and unappointed civil servants in government agencies, who see themselves as safe from layoffs thanks to civil service protections. »
At the head of this news “governmental efficiency commission”the two billionaires promise to launch “massive staff reductions in the federal bureaucracy”with “transition to the private sector” or starting conditions “decent” for dismissed civil servants. The duo also suggests tackling teleworking, with a view to favoring so-called productivity distorted by working from home rather than the living conditions of workers. A policy which, according to them, “would lead to a welcome wave of voluntary departures”.
Finally, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy – despite the fact that they present themselves as « entrepreneurs » and not “politicians” – will not hesitate to weaken or even destroy American public broadcasting or organizations considered too “progressives”.
Family Planning is particularly in the sights of the two businessmen, convinced anti-feminists and transphobes and inveterate supporters of a patriarchal society. As a reminder, Vivek Ramaswamy – who considers Donald Trump to be the “best president of the 21st century” – and Elon Musk distinguished themselves by taking a stand against the legalization of abortion, against immigration or, more broadly, against any societal progression deemed too left-wing.
The targets will therefore be able to satisfy the Republican electorate: the 535 million dollars paid to the public service (radio and television), the 300 million dollars in aid for associations and the 1.5 billion dollars allocated to international organizations are targeted. Next to “500 billion dollars” spending, at a minimum, could be eliminated very quickly.
Based on recent Supreme Court decisions
To achieve their goal, the two businessmen are counting on the support of the Supreme Court, under the Republican flag and favorable to the dismantling of the federal state. Above all, they believe they can do without Congress, normally the most authorized body with regard to developments in the federal budget. Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy explain, in their column, basing their strategy on “American Constitution”whose interpretation is based on recent decisions of the Supreme Court.
The conservative judges of the American court notably limited, at the end of June 2022, the powers of the federal state, and its Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), to regulate greenhouse emissions. “These decisions suggest that many current federal regulations exceed the authority granted by Congress under the law”affirm the two supporters of Donald Trump.
“We will cut costs”repeat the two signatories of the platform, who recall that their mission must end on July 4, 2026… That is to say for the 250e anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence. Quite a symbol.
