Sales on the greenhouse vegetable market are doing well, observes product manager greenhouse vegetables Peter Fes from StC. “The biggest demand comes from the retail trade, but due to the good weather, the daily market is also picking up a bit. For example, the cucumber market remains fairly stable: we have a few growers between cycles and, combined with the good weather, this drives up demand. The prices are actually similar to the size of the fruit. For example, the price of 40 is around 40 cents, the 35 sells for 35 cents and the price of 30 is also around 30 cents.”

« TheWeekly prices also remain quite stable, which is a big difference from a few weeks ago, when cucumbers were sold at auction for 6 cents. I don’t think the price of cucumbers will drop immediately either. Traditional producers are entering full production and by the middle of next week the first fruits of the new cycles in the high greenhouses will be back, but if the weather turns out to be mild, I don’t think the prices will go down again. A rise to 60-70 cents will not happen either, but a stable market should be possible,” Fes predicts.

“The price of eggplants has also increased rapidly. For grape tomatoes, it was a little behind for a long time, but it has also recovered. The pepper market has been stable for around two weeks. Prices for red peppers are around €9.50-10 per package. Substantial productions are expected for next week, but if America continues to drive the market like today, I don’t see it softening either. Despite the increase in quantities, everyone is actually out of stock in recent days. We see that green peppers from Poland are offered at significantly lower prices and at the end of next week the first colors will also follow from this country, so the price of Dutch peppers will not increase for now . »
