► The American envoy will meet Netanyahu

American envoy Amos Hochstein, who is trying to bring about a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah, is due to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, November 21.

The death toll from Israeli strikes carried out on Wednesday against pro-Iranian groups in the thousand-year-old city of Palmyra, in central Syria, rose to 68 dead, an NGO said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH) specified that these were 42 pro-Iranian Syrian fighters and 26 foreigners, most of them Iraqis from the Al-Noujaba group but also four members of Lebanese Hezbollah. The NGO's previous toll was 61 dead.
