For the 11e edition, the Vaudois Prize for International Companies (PVEI) highlights three very specific sectors, that of satellite telecommunications, the watchmaking world and private clinics. Three Vaud companies in these fields of activity have indeed been noted for their international activity.
The first is a start-up that takes off vertically. SWISSto12 has become a leading manufacturer of satellites and radio frequency components. Based in Renens, from EPFL, SWISSto12 began manufacturing innovative components using 3D printing technology in 2011. It is now building its small geostationary satellite, HummingSat. Four copies were sold to Intelsat and ViaSat/Inmarsat, two global satellite telecommunications operators. First launch planned for 2026.
In the Industry category, the Hublot watch factory in Nyon is in the spotlight. Since its founding in 1980, the brand has distinguished itself by combining a rubber strap with a gold case inspired by the nautical world… the porthole. This “fusion” is the aesthetic signature of the brand, notes the Canton of Vaud, since its know-how continues to be based on the combination of materials which notably involve ceramics and sapphire.
Swiss Medical Network wins the Special Jury Prize. The group includes some “2,300 doctors and 4,100 employees, who work in 21 clinics and hospitals, as well as in more than 60 outpatient centers,” recalls the Canton. Swiss Medical Network is 80% owned by Aevis Victoria, the entity behind the creation of the Genolier Innovation Hub inaugurated last September.
The Vaud International Business Prize is awarded by Innovaud, the Vaud Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CVCI) and the Department of Economy, Innovation, Employment and Heritage (DEIEP).
