A few days after new devastating rains in Vésubie, the reconstruction of the Venanson and Maïssa bridges swept away nearly 4 years ago by storm Alex has just been awarded to a group of companies. The Métropole’s call for tenders committee has awarded this project, so eagerly awaited by the inhabitants of Saint-Martin-Vésubie, to Bouygues and Nouvelle Sirolaise de Construction.
18 months of work
The work should therefore finally begin this summer even if it will begin with a 3-month preparatory phase. This 5.5 million euro project is expected to last a year and a half. Time to rebuild works of art much more imposing than those swept away by storm Alex. The initial range of 15 meters has in fact been multiplied by more than two since it will reach 39 meters.
The technical and hydraulic studies to determine the calibration of the new Venanson and Maïssa bridges also explain the delays in this award procedure. “They were carried out in a concerted manner over the years 2021 and 2022recalls the Metropolis, including the holding of workshops with all stakeholders, and in particular the State, SMIAGE and municipal services.”
To resist a hundred-year flood
This analysis phase made it possible to determine the size of the new works in July 2023. After drafting the consultation file, the call for applications was launched on February 28, 2024, with a submission of offers set for May 13, 2024. The winner of the contract was therefore designated on Thursday, June 27, 2024.
It is up to the Bouygues / La Nouvelle Sirolaise de Construction group to build the new Venanson and Maïssa bridges capable of withstanding a 100-year flood.
