A day of sport, culture and solidarity at college

Sport, culture and solidarity were the themes of the “outrement day” of the Saint-François college, last Friday, and its Olympics.

Otherwise was written with an “o” in the title of the day, voluntarily in order to have the initials JO in this Olympic year. Nathalie Baulande, deputy principal of the college, claims this spelling freedom. She even left it in the impromptu poetry writing workshop on Friday morning given the weather which made it impossible to do outdoor activities.

Nathalie Baulande talks about the Olympics: “The Olympics opened in the morning with the mayor, his elected officials, and two young high-level athletes, Quentin Chenuet, French race walking champion, and Maxence Millet, a former student who is champion of France hopeful in basketball. We started with sport, because it’s about mutual aid. We associated this day with the Autour des Williams association. »

The students participated in different sporting activities at the gymnasium, cultural activities at the town hall for micro-madness, and in the establishment.

Regarding Williams-Beuren syndrome, Clara, representative of the association explains: “This syndrome is characterized by 20 to 30 missing genes on chromosome 7. There are various psychomotor and cardiac problems, hypersensitivity to noise, early diabetes, hyperactivity. Sport allows us to move, and also to acquire movements for our children with Williams-Beuren syndrome.”

Alongside the day, raffle tickets were sold for the benefit of the association. The deputy director recognizes: “We put these Olympics under the sign of mutual aid and sharing. »

Quentin and Maxence, the young high-level athletes, took part in the day by supervising activities and answering students’ questions about their respective disciplines.
