As part of their training, CAP and Bac Professionnel students and apprentices must propose, design, produce and present a masterpiece, the result of 2 years of work.
The artistic, historical, creative and technical dimensions must be reinvested in the presentation file and of course in the final achievement. The apprentices of the metalwork section of the EREA, particularly inspired and forming a close-knit group, wanted to work on an achievement promoting human and republican values such as fraternity and team spirit.
A metal key
Odile Viale, professor of Applied Art and recognized artist-designer, transmitted to her students the history of the key through the ages and in particular that of the Gadz’art of the National School of Arts and Crafts of Cluny. Seduced by this tradition where fraternity is an important value, the young people of EREA decided to reappropriate this tradition and in turn achieve a key to their promotion…. made of metal.
Ideas abound and the design work with the advice of Philippe Mejane, metalwork professor and business manager, makes it possible to create the plans, choose the materials, and plan the stages of production.
A united working group
Thanks to the cohesion of the group (Hallassane – Mehdi – Soleha – Lancé) and their enthusiasm, the apprentices create the elements (ring, hexagon, laurel, stem, bit and its numbers) and the assembly reveals their work.
The project is successful, completed in time for the examination and to present their masterpiece at the Colbert Foundation competition for the academies of Montpellier and Toulouse where they win the Arts Prize. In the meantime, perhaps, the national prize or the work has been qualified.
