The meteorological phenomenon announced for the day of Thursday, November 21, in the Loiret, could be characterized “by snow precipitation which could locally reach between two and five centimeters, or even up to ten” in places, announced Wednesday evening, the prefecture .
Météo France has placed the Loiret department on orange “snow-ice” vigilance from Thursday, November 21, at eleven o'clock, recalls the Loiret prefecture in a press release, Wednesday evening.
She specifies that the announced phenomenon could be characterized “by
snowfall that could locally reach between two and five centimeters, or even up to ten centimeters.”
Restriction of movement of heavy goods vehicles
And again “that a prefectural decree relating to measures restricting the circulation of heavy goods vehicles (prohibition of overtaking, lowering of the traffic speed by 20 km/h) on the entire road network in the Loiret will be taken this evening ( Wednesday) for implementation from Thursday, eleven o'clock (start time of orange vigilance).”
“During the day (this Thursday), urban and interurban transport will adapt as closely as possible to the real situation, specifies the prefecture. Users are invited to obtain information from transport companies to ensure the effective circulation of their bus”.
A risk of “refreeze” Friday morning
The negative temperatures forecast during the night from Thursday to Friday also suggest a risk of refreezing on Friday, November 22, in the morning. Users are therefore asked “to facilitate snow removal and salting operations during the night from Thursday to Friday”, warns the prefecture.
It is also reminded that it is prohibited to overtake a salting machine in action, and, concerning heavy goods vehicle drivers, the highway code requires them to travel on the rightmost lane when at least one lane is snowy or icy.
The Loiret Department also communicates on the situation: Patrols are announced to “monitor and secure the roads. The teams are ready to intervene during the night from Thursday to Friday on the main network”, continues the community.
Traffic conditions could therefore prove difficult from eleven o'clock on Thursday. The prefect of the Centre-Val de Loire and Loiret region recommends that road users who can do so postpone their trips, and, before any trip, keep themselves informed of traffic conditions and weather forecasts, in particular from: www. loiret.fr/circulation-hivernale; www.remi-centrevaldeloire.fr or even bison-fute.gouv.fr and meteofrance.com
