Mila, the pregnant woman who lost her child in the road accident caused by Pierre Palmade, then heavily drugged, spoke on the first day of the comedian's trial in Melun (Seine-et-Marne).
A heartbreaking story. Six months pregnant during the accident involving her family's vehicle and that of Pierre Palmade in February 2023, Mila underwent an emergency cesarean section. Her unborn daughter, named Solin, was declared dead after more than thirty minutes of resuscitation.
Upset, she spoke this Wednesday during the trial of comedian Pierre Palmade, tried in Melun (Seine-et-Marne), for involuntary injuries aggravated after this serious road accident that he caused under the influence of narcotics.
“When Solin was born, I was in total denial. For me, I had just given birth. Solin, I carried her in my arms. To me, she was sleeping. I left her in a room. I thought we were going to take care of it. She was dead,” she testified, in tears.
According to consistent case law from the Court of Cassation which has ruled on similar cases, a child who is not born alive does not exist as a legal person.
“I am waiting for this jurisprudence to change and for Solin to be the key to bringing about this change,” Mila said in her speech.
A difficult reconstruction
The mother then looked back on her life after the accident. She described her husband as present in this ordeal. “He may have hid his pain too. There were many moments when I wanted to leave, to separate (from my husband) (…) I no longer felt ready for this future that I had waited a long time for,” she confided.
After a “very painful pregnancy”, Mila and her husband welcomed a little girl two months ago. “I love her very much, but it’s very difficult to hold her. My partner is there to support me, at least for the period when she is little,” she explained.
Pierre Palmade spoke directly to the victims to “ask them for forgiveness from the depths of his being”.
In the days preceding the accident, the comedian was partying continuously without sleeping between Paris and his country house in Seine-et-Marne, alternating between injections of a synthetic drug, lines of cocaine and even games of “chemsex”.
The 54-year-old artist is a repeat offender due to a conviction in 2019 for drug use. He faces a sentence of fourteen years' imprisonment and a fine of 200,000 euros.
