A 21-year-old young man was fatally struck by a freight train on Tuesday November 19 shortly before 10 p.m., in Pouru-Saint-Rémy, in the Ardennes. He was walking on a level crossing outside the station.

Tuesday, November 19, a 21-year-old young man died when struck by a freight train while he was on foot “on the tracks and outside the station”, said the public prosecutor, Magali Josse.
The tragedy occurred around 9:50 p.m. at level crossing number 11 in the town of Pouru-Saint-Rémy, in the Ardennes.
The firefighters intervened but were only able to note the death of the victim. As for the train driver, in a state of shock, he was examined on site but refused to be transported to hospital.
To understand the circumstances of the accident, the 48-year-old man was subsequently interviewed as part of a judicial investigation opened by the Charleville-Mézières public prosecutor’s office on the charge of involuntary homicide, as confirmed to us the public prosecutor, Magali Josse.
An autopsy was also ordered.
