Andy Murray, who underwent surgery for a cyst in his back after withdrawing in the last 16 at Queen’s, was announced as having withdrawn from Wimbledon (1is to July 14) and probably for the Paris Olympic Games (July 27 to August 4), the two tournaments he wanted to play before ending his immense career.

Back in training this Wednesday, the former world number 1 will perhaps defy the medical forecasts. In comments collected by the Guardianthe Briton explains that he will make his decision at the last moment.

” I’m better. 72-96 hours more would make a huge difference. It’s complicated, and it’s even more complicated because I want to play Wimbledon one more time. I want the opportunity to play this tournament and I know some people might look at this and say that pulling out of a tournament at the last minute is not the right thing to do, even though it happens every week on the circuit. And I deserved to give myself this chance. Currently, I would say it’s probably more likely that I won’t be able to play singles at the moment. »

As a reminder, the draw will take place this Friday at 11 a.m.
