The 22-year-old young man who was seriously injured on Sunday June 23, 2024 during a fall on a scooter in Hauts-de-Seine has died, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday June 26. His death occurred on Monday June 24, in the afternoon, while he was still hospitalized.
The accident occurred between Gennevilliers and Asnières-sur-Seine after a refusal to comply on the part of the young man, who was traveling without a helmet. After blocking the right of way for the police car, the victim fled. The police had lost sight of him before finding him for a few minutes “below on a railway track”probably after an impact with a metal barrier, according to the prefecture.
Two ongoing investigations
The police immediately alerted the fire brigade. Seriously injured, the young man was taken care of and hospitalised. Blood tests revealed that the victim was driving under the influence of alcohol and cannabis, according to the prosecution.
Two investigations have been opened in this case. The first, for refusal to comply, was entrusted to the Hauts-de-Seine Territorial Security. The second, for involuntary injuries by a vehicle driver, was entrusted to the IGPN, the police force, specifies theAFP.
