Pro Senectute Arc Jura had to take measures after the decision of the Jura Government to reduce its subsidy for 2024 to its meals sector by 92,000 francs. The foundation must increase the price of meals for the 510 elderly people who benefit from this service.
“The reduction decided without any consultation by the Jura Government unfortunately obliges our foundation to transfer the shortfall to the beneficiaries of the service,” Pro Senectute said in a press release on Wednesday. From July 1, the price of the meal set at 19 francs will increase to 19.80 francs.
From a purely financial logic, Pro Senectute Arc jurassien explains that it should have charged its meals at 20.60 francs. But thanks to a fund established by a bequest, the foundation was able to mitigate the financial impact on the wallets of Jura meal service customers during the second half of 2024.
Serious concern
Pro Senectute Arc jurassien expresses its deep concern and hopes that future discussions with the Government will allow a solution to be found. The foundation adds that the Cantonal Social Action Service is planning a further reduction.
The mission of this institution is to support and assist retired people so that they remain independent and in good shape at home for as long as possible. Among the services is the Meals on Wheels service which provides seniors with a balanced diet 365 days a year.
