Eight dogs die in house fire in Guerchy

A fire broke out on Monday November 18, 2024 in a home in Guerchy. While no people were injured, eight dogs died.

According to information from Bleu , a fire broke out around 5 p.m., on Monday November 18, 2024, in a house in Guerchy (delegated municipality of Valravillon). Part of the ground floor was affected. According to firefighters, the fire started from the living room and spread through the floor. The fire was nevertheless quickly brought under control.

Present in the home, a mother and her daughter were not injured. The family was relocated. However, four dogs and four puppies died. According to the police, a wood stove was the cause of the fire. Firefighters from Auxerre, Aillant-sur-Tholon, Joigny and Valravillon intervened, as well as Enedis, which cut off the electricity.
