There are portages that are worthy, and others that are less so. We all remember the slap we received when Rockstar decided to bring his game Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, with its slick graphics, its open space, and its beautiful panoramas. The company never saw fit to port Red Dead Redemption 1 to PC, despite calls from the PC community. This has finally been done since October 29, and we can say that the developers have not sprained their wrists with this truly minimalist port, which does not compare with its successor. The latter, already very beautiful, can be enriched with textures, “ray tracing” with global illumination, and reflections, even if it is not worth incorporating into the engine and is only a cosmetic layer in the end. And despite this, once modded, we remain on very high standards.
If you want to see what that gives, Digital Dream, which has made a specialty of modding visual, quit the game as much as possible. And since it does things in excess, you can even see the video in 8k60, which looks particularly good on any monitor, provided you have fiber. The game makes the RTX 4090 cough up, but it’s worth a look!
