Stéphanie Cadeau, 51, programmer of the Embellies festival (current music), and very well known in the Rennes cultural community, walks on the pedestrian part of the mall. She was leaving a meeting with Jean-Louis Brossard, director of Trans Musicales de Rennes and was going to another meeting.

While she was at number 88, near the La Poste postal checks building, she was hit by a scooter on which two people were riding. According to witnesses present on site, the scooter was traveling fast and the impact was violent.
A young professional player
Firefighters and emergency doctors from Samu 35 quickly arrived on site. They provide him with first aid. She is then transported, in absolute emergency, to the Rennes University Hospital. In the following hours, she was placed in the medical intensive care unit in critical condition. She will die on Monday morning June 24.
The driver of the scooter, a young adult, is a professional player for Stade Rennais who has been through the club’s training center. As for the passenger, a minor, he is also at the training center. “He is devastated by what happened and thinks his career is over”confides a source close to Stade Rennais.
The two young people were questioned by the Rennes public prosecutor’s office, which opened an investigation into involuntary manslaughter, which is still ongoing. “Alcohol and drug tests came back negative”indicated Philippe Astruc, the public prosecutor of Rennes who also specifies, “that proceedings are not initiated at this stage”.
So what can happen in the coming weeks? An indictment of the driver if a judicial investigation is opened or a summons to appear before the Rennes criminal court.
