The response from the ultra-right on the X network did not take long. Last week, Me Élise Rey Jacqot and Me Bilel Hakkar wanted to ban a demonstration in tribute to Thomas, who died in Crépol, and to “all victims of immigration”. They filed an appeal against the organizing collective “Justice for ours”. In the process, on X and on Instagram, many ultra-right sympathizers then targeted the two lawyers by name, in particular because they are defending two of the defendants in the Crépol murder case.
Death threats, racist insults
The two lawyers therefore filed a complaint, this Sunday and each in their own name, directly with the Drôme public prosecutor. Complaints for public insults of a racist nature and death threats. “It says a lot about the people who want to participate in this gathering”reacts Bilel Hakkar. “We highlighted the fact that I was probably of foreign origin, that says a lot about the degree of reflection of these people”said the lawyer, particularly shocked by a tweet where his name appears mentioned above a gif (small video clip), that of Jean-Marie Le Pen cocking a rifle. “These people are particularly active and virulent, it’s quite detestable. Taking recourse is a possibility that we have in a democratic state of law, if these people disagree with that, we can only regret it”concludes Me Hakkar.
