Firefighters intervened this morning at the Mutualité elementary school, located 2 rue de la Mutualité, in the Chantenay district, in . The alert was triggered at 9:35 a.m. following the detection of a suspicious smell of gas in the school building.

Immediately, security procedures were applied. All the occupants – 135 children and 15 adults – were quickly evacuated, even though the establishment had 350 students in total. This operation was delicate, particularly in a sensitive environment like a school.

The rescue teams, made up of seven firefighters under the command of a group leader, arrived quickly on site. They were accompanied by GRDF technicians to carry out reconnaissance and precisely identify the origin of this worrying odor.

Following these checks, authorities quickly authorized the return of students to their classrooms, thus limiting the disruption to the school day.

The National Police were also present to secure the perimeter and facilitate the emergency response.

The resources involved included a fire engine and the coordinated intervention of several public services, guaranteeing rapid and professional management of the situation.
