Carling Lake Hotel burnt down

A major fire destroyed the Lac Carling hotel last Friday. A hotel institution in the Basses-Laurentides welcoming nearly 8,000 visitors annually and numerous events.

The fire, which broke out around 8 p.m., quickly ravaged the entire complex despite the intervention of several fire brigades.

On site, 48 hours after the tragedy, only debris remained. “It’s like a horror film,” says Luc Dupont Hébert.

Everything was in flames, it was powerful and terrifying. We immediately thought of employees, customers and firefighters.

Miraculously, no injuries were reported among employees or visitors. However, the hotel was scheduled to host a wedding in a few days, highlighting the emotional impact of this loss on the community.

This iconic hotel was much more than just a place to stay: it represented a pillar of regional tourism.

For the moment, the causes of the fire remain unknown and an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.

Local authorities and the owners of the establishment will now have to evaluate the next steps to rebuild or turn the page on this historic place.
