Severely affected by flooding caused by bad weather in mid-October, the Carrefour hypermarket is on the verge of reopening its doors, more than a month after the disaster.

More than a month later, the wait is coming to an end. The Carrefour hypermarket in Givors, located in the Vallée du Gier industrial zone, will once again be able to welcome customers from Friday, November 22.

The business was closed after being largely drowned by the flood of the Gier on October 17. During this meteoric rise in water levels, for several hours, around fifty people remained stranded within the establishment.

In addition to the hypermarket, the shopping mall was also affected, forcing the businesses there to interrupt their activity while cleaning and repairs were carried out.

Some businesses have already been able to resume their activity, sometimes still partial for a handful of them, like the pet store Médor et Compagnie. The grooming salon affiliated with the store remains closed to the public, with insulation work to be carried out, for example.

Before him, the Krys optical store and the DIY store Castorama were able to reopen at the beginning of the month.

Many shopping mall brands are still waiting for the walls to dry completely before they can undertake renovations.
