It is in the presence of Mayor Alexandre Doriol, elected officials from the city, Cécile Piques director of the hospital center, Hanane Ouirini deputy director in charge of nursing homes and members of the La Ciotat Lumières Lions club and the Fil Rouge Alzheimer's that the day center for patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease Amista celebrated its 20th anniversary on Friday.
The party took place with music in the small garden of the center and of course families and “Friends” were there. And yes, the people who frequent Amista are not ordinary patients: they are “Friends” and that is the strength of the place. But let's return to the story of Amista.
An “essential” structure
The center opened its doors on November 24, 2004 on an initiative of the Lions Clubs of La Ciotat and surrounding areas through the association 3 A: Accueil-Amitié-Alzheimer. Approved and supported by all competent institutions, it is managed by the city's hospital center. A coordinating doctor, a psychologist, an occupational therapist and four caregivers work there daily. And from the start, there were also volunteers from the La Ciotat Lions Club who, every week, led recreational workshops.
