Rally driver Sébastien Ogier, on reconnaissance in Poland, is involved in a road accident which, according to the local press, left two people injured.
Multiple French world rally champion Sébastien Ogier and his co-driver Vincent Landais were involved in a road accident during a reconnaissance before the Polish rally and are undergoing medical checks, their team said on Tuesday June 25.
“Seb and Vincent were involved in a road accident during reconnaissance for the Polish Rally and were taken for medical checks,” the Toyota Gazoo Racing team said on the social network X.
Collision with a passenger car
According to a source close to the organizers who requested anonymity, the two pilots “have nothing” and were not injured. “The collision took place during a reconnaissance on a national road, while they were driving at low speed,” this source told AFP.
According to private 24-hour news television Polsat News, the eight-time world champion’s car “collided with a passenger car.”
“The incident occurred while he was familiarizing himself with one of the routes of the Polish Rally,” Polsat News reported, adding that “Sébastien Ogier and his co-driver were taken to hospital.” Two other people were injured in the accident, according to television.
The Poland Rally is scheduled to take place from June 27 to 30 in the northeast of the country.
Ogier, 40, and Landais, 32, are only competing in a few WRC Championship events this season. The French driver is 4th in the general classification and won two rallies in a row in Croatia at the end of April and in Portugal in mid-May.
