Jordan Veretout at Al-Duhail, it’s taking shape but there are still many obstacles. OM’s greed is understandable, that of the midfielder is also considerable.

Not necessarily the best, but Jordan Veretout was perhaps the most consistent player for Olympique de Marseille last season. His ability to finish the exercise well despite the sporting disappointment also made an impression, even if he was not rewarded by a call from Didier Deschamps to the Euro. The midfielder is nevertheless one of the players who count, and this has especially whetted the appetite of rich, if not prestigious, suitors. Thus, the Al-Duhail club decided to focus on the former Nantes player, and made a first offer to sign him. L’Equipe takes stock of this situation this Tuesday, and reveals that everything is slowly falling into place for such a transfer. It is clearly the will of OM who want to see him leave. Despite the importance of the player, Pablo Longoria believes he cannot say no to the departure of his midfielder for a significant sum, even though he is 31 years old and was recruited for 12.5 million euros from Roma. And all this is one year from the end of his commitment to OM.

The Veretout clan undecided

According to La Provence, however, the first offer from Christophe Galtier’s team was rejected, because it would not exceed 10 million euros. A second, higher proposal is in preparation. But nothing has been done yet because the Qatari club first wants to find an agreement with Marseille before trying to convince the former AS Saint-Etienne player. And for everyday life in Provence, things are not so clear in those around him. Veretout initially saw himself staying at OM, and would only accept a departure in the event of a very high salary with a Qatari style. It is rumored that the discussions are progressing very slowly, and even that contact would be difficult to make at first with the leaders of Al-Duhail. Suffice to say that the transfer is not imminent, and that everything will have to fall into place, even if OM will clearly not oppose it.
