Current mayor of the town located in Essonne, Jean-Philippe Dugoin-Clément indicates that his father tried to reach an agreement with the RN so that his brother, Xavier, would act as deputy for the outgoing MP. His father, also called Xavier, speaks of a “political parricide”.

In the municipal council room of Mennecy (Essonne) a particular political story played out this Monday, June 24. The UDI mayor Jean-Philippe Dugoin-Clément, wanted to withdraw all the delegations from his father, Xavier Dugoin.

The man, who was mayor of the city between 1989 and 2001 as well as between 2008 and 2011, has, on the eve of the submission of candidacies for the legislative elections on June 30 and July 7, tried, according to his son, to “secretly” reach an agreement with the National Rally.

“I was informed that Xavier Dugoin had negotiated, without ever informing me (any more than the municipal majority of Mennecy), the candidacy of his son and namesake, Xavier Dugoin junior for the legislative elections in the second constituency of Essonne, as substitute for the outgoing MP, and therefore under the label of the National Rally”, specifies the councilor on his X account.

The aborted agreement

The current mayor therefore wanted to put on the agenda the withdrawal of several delegations to Xavier Dugoin, still municipal councilor in charge of the CCAS, veterans and staff”, explains his son to our colleagues from Le Parisien.

In addition to these municipal portfolios, the former councilor also has a seat as a delegate to the Intercommunal Union for Development, Rivers and the Water Cycle (Siarce). He also remains his seat as president of the Orge Yvette Seine Mixed Union (Smoys).

In addition to these decisions, Jean-Philippe Dugoin-Clément also managed to “prevent” the agreement between his brother and the outgoing MP, Nathalie Da Conceicao Carvalho.

“There will therefore fortunately be, contrary to what Xavier Dugoin had organized, no Front National (National Rally, Editor’s note) ballot papers stamped with the name of Xavier Dugoin in the second constituency of Essonne of which Mennecy is a part “, specifies the current councilor on X.

“A total act of disloyalty”

In this same publication, the elected official admits: if Xavier Dugouin “works on agreements with the National Front (National Rally, Editor’s note), he obviously remains my father”.

On the other hand, he admits that his father “can no longer continue to work with me and even less represent me politically, speak and make decisions on my behalf”.

The current councilor of Mennecy assumes that his “political fight” was “to never compromise or deal with the extremes”. With this agreement made behind his back and that of the municipal majority, he points to a “political mistake” and “an act of total disloyalty”.

The father speaks of an “authoritarian drift”

Questioned by Le Parisien, Xavier Dugouin regretted a “political parricide”. “I am very surprised, it is very brutal. He is in an authoritarian drift,” he says, adding that his son “mixes everything up”. “I have two children, they are in politics and don’t think the same. He is accusing him of his intentions,” he continues.

Same observation for Xavier Dugoin fils who denounces “a pathetic act” by his brother. “I’m not a candidate anywhere. I’m already an opposition municipal councilor in Morangis, it’s ludicrous,” he laments to the Ile-de-France daily.

For her part, outgoing MP Nathalie Da Conceicao Carvalho also answered questions from our colleagues. She affirms that there was “no negotiation” and insists “she looked for her substitute alone”.
