JAKARTA – PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MedcoEnergi) through three subsidiaries in the oil field conducted an Addendum on the signing and purchase and purchase of gas (PJBG) for some of its oil assets with PGN and PT PLN (Persero)

“PJBG’s signing of some of our oil assets is a form of government confidence in MedcoEnergi and the company’s real commitment to maintaining national energy security,” said Ronald Gunawan, co-founder of MedcoEnergy, Tuesday 25 January.

Here are the details of the PJBG:

1. PT Medco E&P Tarakan and PT State Gas Company Tbk (PGN) signed PJBG to supply gas needs for homes in Tarakan. Gas is produced from the Tarakan working area (WK) with a total contracts (TJK) of 982.20 mm scf. The contract came into effect from January 14, 2022 until the end of WK Tarakan gas production or the end of PSC Tarakan.

2. Medco Energi Madura Offshore Pty. Ltd. and PGN signed a memorandum of understanding on PJBG to buy and sell gas from Maleo field and opportunities to meet the needs of East Java industry. This MoU is an extension of PJBG Maleo with an estimate of 8 tbtu. The contract starts from January 1, 2024 to December 3, 2027.

3. Medco Energi Sampang Pty. Ltd. Signed a PJBG agreement with PT PLN Indonesia Power which is an extension of PJBG Sampang. Gas is obtained from Sayong Field, Butterfly and Blue Paus at WK Sampang. TJK’s estimate is 30.6 tbtu with a contract period of September 1, 2022 to December 3, 2027.

Ronald said that in addition to the PJBG, MedcoEnergi also made gas purchases for its operational needs through the PJBG modifications and declarations between PT Medco E&P Indonesia and PT Pertamina EP for the needs of production operations gas station in Pengabuan, Serdang and Ibul, South Sumatra.

TJK’s estimated purchase was 1,751.73 mmscf. Contract period is valid from November 28, 2013 to December 31, 2030 or completion of TJK.

“This collaboration has the potential to produce a reduction in CO2 emissions of 1,095 tonnes per year, compared to the use of diesel engines with a consumption of 4,000 liters per day,” concluded Ronald.
