A road collision claimed the life of one of the police officers escorting Victor Orban’s vehicle on Monday after a Euro 2024 match in Stuttgart. Another police officer was injured.

A 61-year-old police officer died on Monday and another was seriously injured after a road collision while escorting Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban after attending his country’s Euro 2024 match.
“We are deeply shocked by the accident. The tragic circumstances of the death of our precious colleague leave us speechless and hit the entire Stuttgart police force hard.”

The Stuttgart police motorcycle squad was escorting the leader to the airport, when a 69-year-old driver, who was unaware that an intersection was closed for the escort, attempted to turn but collided with the policeman on his motorcycle.
Under the effect of the shock, the agent’s motorcycle was thrown against that of a 27-year-old colleague, according to Reuters. The 61-year-old officer died of his injuries in hospital, while the young officer was seriously injured.
Ludwigsburg police, who have taken over the investigation into the incident, have appealed for witnesses.
