The Guérnière district in Caen celebrates puppetry on Saturday June 29, 2024. Anne-Laure Pérez, public relations manager at Sablier, the national puppet center in Ifs, summarizes the planned activities.

Why this day around puppets, Saturday in the La Guérinière district?
We wanted to organize this event called “La Guérinière en fête” to mark the end of the project carried out for 3 years in this district. This partnership between Le Sablier and several structures in the area has made it possible to conduct numerous workshops for residents, children and adults, around contemporary puppet theater. In addition, Saturday’s date coincides with the launch of “Mon quartier d’été”, the summer entertainment program of the City of Caen. Hence this festive day with shows, music, workshops and many other surprises to experience as a family.
What is the program of the festivities?
Alexandre Gauthier’s Wouoko company is in charge, as it has been during the workshops offered to residents since the start of the project. From 10:30 a.m., we start with the restitution of the work undertaken at the Reine Mathilde nursing home, including a drawn concert, that is to say that portraits will be taken in the audience during the songs. At 2:30 p.m., go to the Salle de l’Abreuvoir for the puppet show created by children attending the neighborhood’s leisure facilities: Horizon jeunesse and the MJC. Then, it’s time for the party on Place Sully, from 3 p.m.: reading, board games, children’s stories and even a puppet flash mob!
