In Didievi, a town located in the Bélier Region, District of Lakes, the populations are plunged into deep sadness and total incomprehension following the barbaric assassination of Yao Firmin, a respected man.
Known affectionately as Yebo, Yao Firmin was a master craftsman and coffin maker, renowned for the quality and precision of his work. That morning, last June 17, 2024, he did not know that he was undertaking his last journey into the bush in search of the perfect wood for his creations.
Like he usually does, Yao Firmin had taken the path of bush, determined to personally choose the best wood for his coffins, a guarantee of his dedication and professional seriousness. He had hired a tricycle to transport the wood to Didievi. After an initial delivery trip, the tricycle driver returned to collect another load. It was then that he came across a scene of indescribable horror.
The body of Yao Firmin was lying on the ground, mutilated by numerous machete blows, bathed in a pool of blood. His assassins, still unknown, had acted with incredible violence, leaving him no chance of survival. This cruel and savage murder shocked the Didievi community, which quickly spread the terrible news. The residents, in shock, struggle to understand the reasons for such an atrocity.
The motivations behind this barbaric act remain a complete mystery. The authorities immediately opened an investigation to discover those responsible and understand the motive for this atrocious crime. Yao Did Firmin have secret enemies? Was he the target of revenge or a criminal act linked to his professional activity? Or was it an opportunistic attack carried out by unscrupulous bandits? So many unanswered questions haunt the community and investigators, who are increasing their efforts to gather clues and collect testimonies.
This murder plunges the inhabitants of Didievi into fear and uncertainty. Residents hope that justice will be served quickly and that the culprits will be arrested and held accountable for their actions.
In the meantime, the small town mourns the loss of an exemplary man, whose life and work touched many people.
