At the Beaune Sports Forum, the unexpected star of this edition is none other than a life-size scale! But be careful, not to monitor runners’ excesses after exercise. This scale has a much more festive mission: it will determine the weight in wine of the lucky winners of the special prizes.
Imagine the scene: after 21.1 km of half-marathon or 10 km of Foulées de Beaune (this afternoon’s races) disguised as a bottle of Burgundy or a bunch of grapes (yes, some dare!), you climb on this balance, to applause and bursts of laughter. The verdict falls: “70 kg of wine!” » Enough to turn a few heads, even before uncorking the first bottle.
A record number of registrations for a grandiose event
From 2 p.m. this Saturday, the half-marathon of the Hospices de Beaune Wine Sale is sold out, with 2,500 participants, a first in its history. As for the Foulées de Beaune, 2,300 runners will set off on the 10 km technical course. These figures prove that the event has become unmissable for athletes… and those who love good humor.
Exceptional sponsorship for varied exploits
Alongside the star Libra, two prestigious sponsors will be there. Mélina Robert-Michon, world-class discus thrower and flag bearer for the 2024 Olympics, embodies strength and perseverance. At his side, Daniel Narcisse, handball legend with 943 goals for the French team and French handball Hall of Fame, will add a touch of class.
Local athletes, such as the brothers Mathieu and Alexandre Bourgeois or Denis Chevrot, three-time triathlon champion, will also be present, reminding us that Beaune is a land of talent.
The icing on the cake? The weight in wine!
See you Saturday at 6 p.m. for the awards ceremony. Between records, conviviality and a hint of madness, we will remember this scale for a long time… and the smiles it aroused. Come on, courage to those who will have to carry the bottles!
